Spooky Page
What happens on Halloween.... We dress up, we go to partys, we trick or treat, but what is halloween really about?

Well, Halloween used to be a pagan festival. At halloween in the Dark Ages, people burned witches or people they thought were witches.
That is where the tradition to build a "guy" comes from.
The guy represents the witch to be burned, although we don't really think about that these days...

Some people go to halloween partys, child to adult.
At around six o'clock, young children go around to houses asking for "trick or treat" not many people ask for a trick, but instead give the children handfulls of sweets or nuts.
Families buy fireworks and invite neighbours to see them,
Big towns and Cities set off fireworks, giving the people who sell those glowing plastic haloes and wands a big break.
Spooky window displays, spooky programs, old black and white scary films, songs like "monster mash" and scary costumes all come out at halloween.
Who doesn't know the black robed witch complete with broomstick, cat, and nose wart?
Some of us decorate our houses with orange and black decorations and fake cobwebs
while others just grumble at trickor treaters and draw the blinds. Some children hold their hands out for money, others are content with a handfull of monkeynuts.
